Issyk-Kul is the second-largest alpine lake in the world.
Issyk-Kul is the second-largest alpine lake in the world. It is so big that it looks like an ocean. Its name means “Warm Lake” because it never freezes, even in the coldest winters. Surrounded by snowy peaks, the water stays a beautiful crystal-blue color all year round.
Two Different Sides. The North Shore is busy with many resorts and cafes. The South Shore is wilder and more quiet, with hidden beaches, amazing canyons, and small villages. This is the side for people who want to feel something authentic and close to nature.
Mountains and Valleys. What makes Issyk-Kul special is that you have the water on one side and tall mountains on the other. You can spend the morning swimming and the afternoon hiking to a waterfall or exploring deep green forests.
