Altyn-Arashan is a beautiful mountain valley famous for its natural hot springs. The name means “Golden Spa,” and it is a place full of green pine forests and a rushing river. It sits right under the massive Palatka Peak, which looks like a giant white tent covered in ice.
The Natural Hot Springs. The best part about this valley is the hot water. There are several pools filled with thermal water coming straight from the ground. After a long hike or a bumpy drive, soaking in the hot water while looking at the snowy peaks is a perfect way to relax.
The Heart of the Mountains. Altyn-Arashan is a paradise for hikers. Many people use this valley as a base to visit Ala-Kul Lake or to explore nearby glaciers. You will see wild horses running through the meadows and small wooden houses that make the valley look like a picture from a storybook.
The Toughest Road. The road to Altyn-Arashan is one of the most difficult in Kyrgyzstan. It is a steep, rocky climb along the edge of a canyon. The road is so rugged that even most modern 4×4 SUVs cannot make it.
